Commitment

Amazon Restoration Company contributes to climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development. Our work aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, supporting local communities and enhancing ecosystem resilience.

Biodiversity and conservation

Ucayali is a region of immense ecological importance, hosting nearly 20% of Peru’s total forest area. Approximately 85% of the department is covered by lowland tropical forests, home to extraordinary biodiversity, including numerous endemic species. The region encompasses two large national parks, several reserves, and key buffer zones, making it a critical area for conservation. Strategically located within this landscape, the project area supports ecological restoration and strengthens natural corridors between protected areas. With 818,300 hectares identified as priority sites for forest restoration, the project plays a vital role in advancing regional conservation efforts and aligns seamlessly with both national and regional strategies for sustainable land use and emissions reduction.

Social impact

The company’s social impact also goes beyond the confines of its own properties. A large scale outgrower program is part of the business plan to enable small and medium-sized farmers and landowners to reforest lands and stimulate integration of native trees in their farm management systems. The timber supply from these outgrowers will be included in the value-added production lines of the company.

Certification

We aim to adhere to rigorous sustainability standards, including FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®), VCS (Verified Carbon Standard), and CCB (Climate, Community, and Biodiversity), as part of our commitment to responsible and impactful practices.

Outgrower Program

Our outgrower program collaborates with small and medium-sized farmers to restore degraded lands while promoting sustainable land use. We work in selected communities that enter into partnerships with ARC. In these communities individual farming families can enroll in the program, through which they receive seedlings, input and technical support. For each participant a farm plan is made that includes on a small portion of their land their tree planting activities with ARC. Farmers keep full ownership of the land, and they also own the trees given to them. ARC enables the farmers to join the carbon certification program and thus provides access to carbon credit income. Depending on the tree species, trees can be harvested in 5 to 20 years. At that moment, ARC will buy the timber at a fair market price, while outgrowers commit to replant trees after harvest. This ensures sustainable continuation of the reforestation and renewed production of timber.

This initiative extends our impact beyond our own properties, empowering farmers and landowners to rehabilitate their lands and adopt sustainable practices. The timber produced by outgrowers will become part of our value-added production line, support local economies and foster long-term environmental restoration.
